Progress Residential to pay $48.5 million over hidden rental fees: what changes for renters

The FTC and four states say one of the largest single-family landlords charged renters $30 to $330 or more a month above advertised rent and kept deposits for ordinary wear and tear. The proposed order sets new rules for listings and deposits and sends $48.5 million to the FTC for renter relief.
