Tenzing starts streaming on Apple TV on October 16. Jennifer Peedom directs the drama, with Genden Phuntsok playing Tenzing Norgay and Tom Hiddleston playing Edmund Hillary, according to Apple's film page.
The film dramatizes the Everest expedition, with actors interpreting historical people. Apple rates it TV-PG and lists it under drama and adventure. A viewer looking for documentary footage should choose a documentary or an expedition archive separately.
The Royal Geographical Society's Everest history provides a useful historical companion. It documents the expedition behind the dramatized story.
The historical summit belongs to May 29, 1953, when Norgay and Hillary reached the top of Everest. That date gives the film's October 2026 arrival a clear reference point. The Royal Geographical Society's account concerns the expedition record; the film organizes that record into scenes, performances and a point of view.
Apple's credits name Thinley Lhamo as Dawa and Caitríona Balfe as expedition secretary Jill Henderson. The synopsis gives both women a part in the argument over Norgay's place in the team. The film’s focus on Norgay’s place in the team brings the allocation of work and credit into its account of the expedition. Private conversations are part of the dramatization, alongside the documented summit chronology.
