Besslly Halloween Pumpkin Carving Kits, model CHD-014-2, remain subject to a recall because children can reach button batteries in the included tea lights. Stored kits need to be checked before use.
The CPSC's April 9 recall identifies the affected kits and their battery-ingestion risk. The recall directs consumers to stop using the kits and contact the seller for a refund. Check the official notice for the full identification and remedy instructions.
Sort the table before starting
| Item | Check or task |
|---|---|
| Stored kit | Match brand and model against the recall notice |
| Battery light | Check the compartment is secure and keep loose batteries away from children |
| Pumpkin design | Let children draw or decorate without carving |
| Cutting tools | Keep carving with an adult |
| Finished display | Place it where it will not obstruct the walking route |
The CPSC recommends flameless lights or glow sticks for jack-o'-lanterns accessible to children. Battery power removes an open flame, but it does not remove every hazard. Inspect the actual light and follow its instructions.
Choose the division of work before everyone sits down. An adult can do the cutting while children draw a face, select stickers or plan where the finished pumpkin will go. Keep tools on the working side of the table and clear the loose parts when the session ends.
If you own the recalled kit, follow the linked recall's disposal and refund directions. Do not put loose button batteries in household trash or leave them in a bowl of spare decorations; use the local hazardous-waste procedure specified by the notice.
