SS United States, the liner that still holds the Atlantic speed record, will be sunk as a reef off Florida Nov. 12
Okaloosa County plans to sink the 990-foot liner about 22 nautical miles off Destin-Fort Walton Beach, weather permitting. A sendoff is set for Nov. 11 and a viewing party with a live feed for the morning of the sinking.
