AT&T customers waiting for data-breach settlement payments still have no confirmed payment date to put on the calendar. The court-authorized settlement website says the court granted final approval on October 2, 2026. Its payment guidance does not give a specific distribution day.
The $177 million settlement covers two incidents disclosed in 2024. Customers who submitted valid claims are waiting for the remaining steps in the process. The deadline to submit or mail a claim was December 18, 2025, so the current payment discussion does not reopen the application window.
What happens after approval
The administrator's payment FAQ says distribution follows court approval, expiration of the time for appeals, and review of all claim forms. Approval alone therefore does not tell an individual claimant when a payment will arrive.
The website also contains older language saying the court is still considering approval after a January hearing. That passage predates the October 2 update posted on the home page. Readers can use the dated update to confirm the approval decision while checking the site for a separate distribution announcement.
KPRC reported on October 27 that an effective date of November 12 was estimated if no appeal is filed. That conditional estimate is not a promised payment date for every claimant. The station also reported that final tier-payment amounts had not been determined.
Why $5,000 is a maximum
Under the published terms, the first settlement class covers people whose information was included in the incident AT&T announced on March 30, 2024. A documented-loss payment can reach $5,000 for qualifying losses fairly traceable to that incident. The alternative is a share of the net settlement fund through a tiered payment.
For that first class, people whose Social Security numbers were involved qualify for a tier payment five times the amount of the other tier. The dollar amount depends on the fund available for distribution and valid claims. A headline mentioning $5,000 does not establish what a person who selected a tier payment will receive.
The second class concerns the incident announced July 12, 2024, involving call and text interaction records downloaded from a third-party cloud platform. Its documented-loss maximum is $2,500. The settlement resolves the litigation without an admission of liability or wrongdoing by AT&T.
Kroll Settlement Administration handles the case. Existing claimants can check the official website or call 833-890-4930. KPRC cautions against unsolicited messages asking for payment or sensitive personal information to release settlement money.
