Loewe's The Nightmare Before Christmas collection goes on sale Nov. 12 in the United States. The Spanish label's U.S. site already lists prices for several pieces marked “Coming soon,” including a $450 candle, an $890 Jack Skellington wallet and a $3,990 wool-and-silk coat.
The U.S. campaign page also previews bags, fragrance and clothes. Individual product pages give a better sense of how far the collection goes beyond handbags. The Cat in the Box candle has a sculpted lid and a banana scent. The Jack wallet and a light jade wallet featuring Zero each list at $890. A black cotton-blend T-shirt is listed at $790. Those are prices shown on Nov. 6. Stock and delivery dates depend on the listing after sales open.
From miniature sets to leather and embroidery
Loewe says its designers drew on the film's archive, including drawings, handmade puppets and miniature sets. Some of those designs became embroidery or leather marquetry, in which cut pieces of leather fit together to make an image. Other objects keep the joke of the original prop. The candle's lid, for instance, turns a creature from the film into something that peers out of a jar.
The film's title bears Tim Burton's name. Disney's film record credits Henry Selick as director and dates the original release to Oct. 13, 1993. The story follows Jack Skellington after he discovers Christmas Town and decides to take over the holiday. In the stop-motion production, the figures and sets were physical objects that animators moved between exposures. Disney lists the film on Disney+.
Loewe's short coat listing shows a subtler treatment than the character wallets. It has a satin shawl lapel and a leather-and-metal brooch. The label identifies it as part of the same Disney collection.
