Rockefeller Center has chosen a 76-foot Norway spruce from West Edmeston, New York, for its 2026 Christmas tree. Organizers announced the selection Monday, October 26.
The tree is approximately 75 years old, measures 50 feet across and weighs about 11 tons, according to Rockefeller Center. amNewYork reports that Rebecca Decker donated it and that it is scheduled to be cut down November 5.
November arrival, December lighting
The tree is due to arrive at Rockefeller Center on Saturday, November 7. Its lighting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, from 7 to 10 p.m. Eastern. Visitors planning a trip around the illuminated display should use the December date; the November event welcomes the tree's arrival.
Organizers plan to decorate the spruce with more than 50,000 multicolored LED lights and a Swarovski star. Full visiting hours have yet to be posted on the official tree page.
The November 7 Meet the Tree Day includes a holiday workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Care Bears characters, photo opportunities and craft activities presented with FAO Schwarz. The event is free and open to the public, with admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rockefeller Center also sells a separate Meet the Tree + Top of the Rock ticket with confirmed, expedited entry to the celebration and observation-deck admission. That package is an optional paid route; the arrival-day event has a free admission option.
