The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled CIYTI light-up princess costumes sold on Amazon because children can easily reach their button batteries. Its October 22 notice tells families to take the sets away from children immediately and stop using them.

About 94 sets were sold from February through June 2025 for $21 to $35. No incidents or injuries have been reported. A costume bought last year may still be waiting in a closet for Halloween.

The set has a blue dress, light-up crown and wand, and a remote control. The crown, wand and remote contain button batteries. CPSC says the products have no markings; the packaging has CIYTI on the front. The recall number is 27-038.

How to get the refund

The seller, FoShanShiNanHaiQuNuoAiTongZhuangShangHang, is offering a full refund. Follow the notice's instructions: write "RECALLED" in permanent marker on the dress, crown, wand and remote, discard the toys, and email a photograph of the disposed items to Norakid2026@outlook.com. Button batteries require disposal or recycling under local hazardous waste procedures.

The National Capital Poison Center explains that a swallowed battery can lodge in the esophagus and generate an electrical current that causes chemical burns. Severe damage can occur within two hours.

If someone swallows a battery, call the National Battery Ingestion Hotline at 1-800-498-8666 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately. Do not induce vomiting.
