DREO is replacing about 338,800 space heaters sold in the United States because the heaters can overheat and ignite. The company has received 17 reports of heaters igniting, three of them causing property damage and one a burn injury to someone's hand.

One model is involved, and Costco sold it.

How to tell whether yours is in the recall

The recall covers DREO model DR-HSH015, a black ceramic electric heater about 11.5 inches wide and 13 inches tall that ships with a remote control. The model number and the manufacture date, written in YYYY/MM form, are printed on a label on the underside of the unit, and the DREO name is on the front.

Only heaters made from April 2025 through January 2026 are recalled, so the date on that label settles it.

They were sold in Costco stores nationwide and online at Dreo.com, BestBuy.com, Kohls.com, Lowes.com, QVC.com, HomeDepot.com, B2BRenew.com and Costco.com from September 2025 through October 2026, for $70 to $110. The sale window ran right up to the recall, so a heater bought in the past few weeks still needs checking.

What the replacement process asks of you

Unplug it now. DREO is giving owners a free replacement, and the condition is proof that the old heater is out of service, which means cutting the electrical cord and then following the company's instructions to send in a photo of the destroyed unit.

DREO takes calls at 833-820-0887 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern on weekdays, email at [email protected], and claims at recallrtr.com/spaceheater. The importer is Hesung Innovation Corp, which does business as DREO, of Clifton, New Jersey. The heaters are made in Vietnam. Another 36,300 of them went to buyers in Canada, which the notice counts separately from the US total.

Two more fire recalls landed the same day

The Consumer Product Safety Commission posted three fire-related recalls on Oct. 29, and the other two are worth a look if either product is in the house.

On a recall of roughly 11,000 power banks, the seller has been made aware of 600 reports of fire and other thermal incidents, including three burn injuries and nine reports of property damage. The affected power banks are black, carry "20W" on the front and "Model: W5 PRO" on the side, were sold on Amazon by a seller called Mitrytech, and have no date code printed on the side, which is the detail that separates the recalled units from the rest of the model's production run. A refund requires a photo of the unit with the word "recalled" written on it in permanent marker.

The boiler recall is small by count, and its hazard list is long. The notice names fire, carbon monoxide poisoning and a cover that can come off the front of a running unit. Ariston, formerly NTI Boilers, made them, and another 2,261 went to Canada.
