The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge's upper level closes in both directions at 11 p.m. Saturday, October 31, ahead of Sunday's New York City Marathon. The lower level closes at 7 a.m. Sunday, November 1, shutting the bridge to non-emergency traffic until approximately 4 p.m.

NYC311's marathon notice confirms those staggered times. They affect trips between Brooklyn and Staten Island before runners arrive. Drivers who need that crossing must plan another route during the full closure.

All times below are local New York time.

Parking restrictions run through Sunday

The city's operations notice lists no-parking restrictions from Saturday through Sunday on Central Park West between 60th and 66th streets and between 74th and 96th streets. Other affected stretches include First Avenue from 58th to 125th streets and Fifth Avenue from 86th to 96th streets.

The notice also lists restrictions on individual side-street blocks. Check the posted signs for the block where you plan to park.

Central Park's East, West and Center drives are also scheduled to be closed Saturday and Sunday.

ABC7 reports that buses will not cross Fifth Avenue during the race. Additional Metro-North trains are planned on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines. Station stairways near crowded viewing areas may become entrance-only or exit-only.

Runners can connect by subway to the Staten Island Ferry, where shuttle buses will take participants to the starting area, ABC7 reports.

The MTA's M10 alert lists northbound marathon setup diversions at Central Park West's West 67th and West 69th Street stops, directing passengers to West 72nd Street. Arrival information may be inaccurate during detours.
