The nominees for the 2027 Grammys will be named on Monday, November 16, starting at 4:45 a.m. Pacific, 7:45 a.m. Eastern. That is early for anyone on the West Coast, and the full list goes up online the moment the announcement ends.
The Recording Academy's nominations viewing guide lists two places to watch the livestream: Grammy.com and the official Grammys YouTube channel. A group of past winners and nominees will read the names; the academy says it will announce who later. A nominations wrap-up show follows on Grammy.com and the Grammys' YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and X accounts.
Five categories are new this year
The 69th Grammy Awards hand out trophies in 100 categories, and five of them have never been awarded before:
- Best Asian Pop Music Performance, which covers K-pop, J-pop and C-pop recordings
- Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance
- Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, for Great American Songbook material and similar classic styles
- Best Traditional Folk Album
- Best Latin Song, a songwriters' award for new songs with at least 51% of the lyrics in Spanish
The academy also changed the rules for Best New Artist and lowered the number of new recordings an album needs to be eligible.
What counts, and who votes
Music released between August 31, 2025, and August 28, 2026, is eligible, according to the academy's voting guide. A record released after August 28 is not eligible this time.
The nominees were already chosen in first-round voting, which ran from October 12 to 22. Voting members, who are working performers, songwriters, producers and engineers, normally get as many as 10 categories, drawn from no more than three genre fields, on top of the general field: Album, Record and Song of the Year, Best New Artist and two songwriter and producer awards. A new opt-in system called Ballot Plus lets members with credits across several genres vote in up to 15 categories instead.
