Current and former University of Phoenix students who qualify for the school’s proposed privacy settlement have until Thursday, November 5, 2026, to file a claim. The settlement administrator says a valid claim is worth up to $25 if the court grants final approval. The amount could drop if claims and other covered expenses reach the settlement’s $8.75 million cap.
Who can file a claim
The administrator’s notice lists U.S. students who were enrolled at any point from April 1, 2023, through October 6, 2026. For students in Illinois, the period starts April 1, 2020, and ends on the same date. Enrollment is only one requirement. The claim form also requires a declaration under penalty of perjury that you visited a University of Phoenix website during the applicable period and did not block cookies or tracking through browser settings or privacy extensions.
The lawsuit alleges the school disclosed student information to Meta and other third parties without consent. The university denies violating the law. ClassAction.org reported that the court granted preliminary approval on September 22.
How to file and when payment could come
For an online claim, use the LoginID and PIN from the emailed notice. If you believe you qualify and cannot locate them, the administrator’s FAQ explains how to request them. You can also download a paper form from the settlement documents page and mail it with a postmark no later than November 5. The administrator gives the same date for online submissions without specifying a cutoff hour.
The final approval hearing is scheduled for November 20. The administrator estimates that approved claims will be paid about 100 days after final approval and any appeals are resolved. A check is the default. If you choose another payment method on the claim form, check that the account details you provide are current.
