A flash flood warning covers southwestern Seminole County, Florida, including Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Wekiva Springs, Forest City and Fern Park, until 10:30 p.m. EST Sunday, November 1.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne issued the warning at 8:29 p.m. EST after public reports of heavy rain. It says flash flooding on the Little Wekiva River is already happening or expected shortly. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain has fallen, with another 1 to 2 inches possible.
The agency classifies the damage threat as considerable and tells people in the warned area to move to higher ground now. It warns of life-threatening flooding of creeks and streams. Drivers should turn around at flooded roads and take extra care at night, when floodwater is harder to see.
The warning covers the southwestern part of the county. The bulletin does not identify a specific road closure or report a countywide evacuation order. Its deadline is 7:30 p.m. Pacific.
In his Sunday forecast for WKMG News 6, meteorologist Jordan Patrick said showers and thunderstorms would continue into Monday morning, including the commute. His forecast calls for rain chances to diminish Monday afternoon.
