Flash flooding is already occurring in central Bay County, Florida, where a National Weather Service warning remains in effect until 11:45 a.m. CST Sunday, November 1.

The warning, issued at 9:41 a.m. CST, includes Panama City, Lynn Haven, Callaway, Springfield, Hiland Park, Parker, Dirego Park, Cedar Grove, Millville, Bay Harbor and Magnolia Beach.

Radar indicated that 4 to 8 inches of rain had fallen across the warned area. The weather service warned of flash flooding in small creeks and streams, streets, highways, underpasses and other low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Drivers should turn around when they encounter flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, the weather service says.

More rain is possible as a surface low moves along the Gulf coastline. WJHG meteorologist Alyssa Nygaard's Sunday forecast calls for intermittent rain and possible thunderstorms, with some drier intervals during the afternoon. Her forecast also calls for breezy conditions, with winds becoming easterly by Sunday evening.

A break in rain does not establish that flooded roads have drained. The warning's listed communities identify the affected area; the bulletin does not provide a road-by-road closure list.

Check the current NWS alerts before traveling, since a warning can be extended, replaced or canceled before its listed deadline.
