A flash flood warning covers northeastern Palm Beach County, including West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Riviera Beach, until 7:15 p.m. EST Sunday, November 1.

The National Weather Service in Miami issued the warning at 5:23 p.m. EST. Radar and automated gauges indicated that 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain had fallen. Forecasters said another 1 to 2 inches was possible, with flash flooding already occurring or expected to begin shortly.

The warning also names North Palm Beach, Lake Park, Haverhill, Cloud Lake, Mangonia Park, Glen Ridge, Cypress Lakes, Golden Lakes and the Port of Palm Beach. The county's main commercial airport is among the listed locations.

Small creeks, streets, underpasses and other low-lying areas can flood. The weather service tells motorists to turn around when they encounter flooded roads. The warning does not identify a specific road closure, and its geographic area does not cover all of Palm Beach County.

A broader flood watch circulated by the Town of Palm Beach covers Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties through Monday afternoon. That watch describes a continuing risk from repeated bands of heavy rain. The shorter flash flood warning calls for action in the specifically warned area Sunday evening.

WPTV meteorologist Kate Wentzel's Sunday forecast also describes an unsettled pattern through Monday, with periods of showers, thunderstorms and localized flooding. The end of Sunday's warning is not a forecast that the broader wet-weather risk will be over. The warning expires at 4:15 p.m. Pacific. Check the weather service's current notices before traveling. Active warnings can be extended or replaced.
