YES Communities data-incident settlement claims are due Thursday, November 5. Eligible people can request reimbursement for documented losses and time spent dealing with the breach, or choose a $50 cash alternative. Three years of credit monitoring is also available.

Online claims must arrive by 11:59 p.m. Eastern, which is 8:59 p.m. Pacific. The settlement agreement specifies the Eastern cutoff. Mailed claims must be postmarked November 5.

The deadline concerns a December 2024 incident. YES Communities denies wrongdoing, and the settlement still requires final approval.

Who qualifies

The administrator's notice covers living individuals in the United States who were sent notice by YES Communities that their private information was affected. Living in one of the company's manufactured-home communities alone does not establish eligibility.

The notice describes a ransomware attack involving unauthorized access and theft of unencrypted information. The affected records varied and included identification, financial and employment information. The administrator says information belonging to 10,675 people in the US or its territories was involved.

Compare the cash options

The claim form provides two paths:

  • Documented losses and lost time. Eligible claimants can seek up to $2,500 for actual, unreimbursed fraud or identity-theft losses more likely than not caused by the incident. They can also claim up to four hours at $20 an hour for time spent remedying related problems.
  • Alternative cash. Eligible claimants can choose $50 without documenting losses. This replaces both the documented-loss and lost-time payments.

Four hours of qualifying time equals $80, or $30 more than the alternative. Someone claiming one hour would request $20. Those figures compare the listed options, not guaranteed awards. Claim only actual qualifying time and losses.

For documented losses, the form lists bank or credit-card statements, tax-authority letters and police reports as examples of supporting evidence. A personal statement alone does not replace documentation. Expenses already reimbursed elsewhere cannot be paid again.

Credit monitoring is separate from that cash choice. Class members may request three years of IDX monitoring for one credit bureau, including those who previously received monitoring connected with the incident.

How to file and when payment follows

Start at the official settlement website. Its online claim portal asks for the claim number and PIN from the settlement notice. A printable form is available for mailing with supporting documents to YES Communities Data Incident, c/o Analytics Consulting LLC, P.O. Box 2002, Chanhassen, MN 55317-2002.

The administrator reviews claims and may request more information. For eligibility or missing-notice questions, its published number is 866-307-8556.

The final approval hearing is scheduled for November 20. Payments depend on final approval and resolution of appeals, so November 5 is the filing deadline, not a payment date.
