General Hospital won outstanding daytime drama series at the 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, while Tamara Tunie won lead actress for Beyond the Gates. The ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium also honored General Hospital's Genie Francis with a lifetime achievement award.
The organizer's winners report names Scott Clifton of The Bold and the Beautiful as lead actor. The Young and the Restless won both supporting acting categories, for Beth Maitland and Roger Howarth. Ambyr Michelle of Beyond the Gates won emerging talent, and General Hospital's Jeff Kober won guest performance.
Beyond the Gates joins the winners

Beyond the Gates collected four competitive awards: Tunie's performance, Michelle's emerging talent award, lighting, and hairstyling and makeup. The last was a tie with The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The CBS drama arrived in 2025 after a long gap in new daytime serials. In its launch announcement, CBS described it as the first new daytime drama since Passions in 1999 and the first one-hour Black daytime soap.
Created by Michele Val Jean and developed through the CBS Studios/NAACP venture, the series centers on the Dupree family in an affluent Maryland community outside Washington.
Genie Francis receives a career honor
Francis received the lifetime achievement award during the ceremony, TV Insider reported. Her career extends beyond Laura on General Hospital to roles on Days of Our Lives and All My Children, as well as the miniseries North and South.
Her month-long return as Laura in 2006 led to a supporting actress Emmy, according to the Television Academy's interview archive. In the 2007 recording, Francis discusses leaving and returning to the soap, then joins Anthony Geary to discuss their work as Luke and Laura and the fan reaction to their pairing.
Talk shows and nonfiction
The Kelly Clarkson Show won daytime talk series, while Sherri Shepherd won talk-series host. Other winners included Ina Garten for culinary hosting and Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross for travel and adventure programming.
The nonfiction writing category produced another tie: Expedition Unknown's Searching for World War II's Lost Hero and This Old House's Asheville Rebuilds.
