Lyft’s new Go membership earns credits worth its monthly fee after about $124.88 in eligible ride fares. The cheaper Core tier reaches that point at $99.80. But riders who already have DashPass should check the complimentary Go benefit before buying either plan.

Lyft Go began rolling out in the US on Nov. 5. Go with DashPass costs $9.99 a month or $96 a year and earns 8% back in Lyft Credits. Core costs $4.99 a month and earns 5%. Credits must be selected when paying and can expire before you use them, so their value depends on future trips or orders.

Both tiers include relaxed cancellations and donation matching. The full plan offers three relaxed cancellations a month and a lost-item return fee waiver. Those benefits could matter to some riders, but the calculations below count only ride credits.

Paying $96 annually saves $23.88 against twelve $9.99 monthly payments, before tax. It also means committing to a year. The monthly option costs more over twelve months but lets an occasional rider cancel before another renewal.

Lyft’s membership terms exclude fees, taxes, tolls, tips and donations from the fare that earns credits. Portions paid with coupons, discounts or existing credits also do not earn them. A $30 receipt therefore may produce less than $2.40 in Go credits.

The comparison below assumes eligible base fares paid after those exclusions, followed by full redemption of the credits. It subtracts the monthly fee from the credit value; these are promotional credits, not cash returned to a bank account.

Eligible fares paid in a monthCore credits less $4.99 feeGo credits less $9.99 fee
$100$0.01-$1.99
$150$2.51$2.01
$200$5.01$6.01
$400$15.01$22.01
$500$15.01$30.01

Core earns $20 at $400 in eligible fares and then stops earning for that monthly limit period. Go reaches its $40 cap at $500. Spending beyond a cap does not generate more membership credits that period.

Go’s extra three percentage points equal its additional $5 monthly fee at about $166.67 in eligible fares. Below that amount, Core produces more credit value after the fee if you assign no value to DashPass or the full plan’s other benefits. Above it, Go pulls ahead under these assumptions. Different ride quotes or unused credits can change the result.

Lyft’s rewards page excludes shared rides and Business-profile rides from earning, along with bike and scooter rides in Boston and Washington, DC. The program covers eligible US rides, including Puerto Rico.

DoorDash’s current partnership terms say eligible members need only one paid membership to claim the other at no additional cost. Linking accounts alone is insufficient, even if they were linked before. Complete activation and confirmation in the Lyft app.

The arrangement also covers eligible Chase cardholders with an activated complimentary DashPass benefit, according to Lyft. Check the offer attached to your account rather than purchasing a second subscription to obtain the same benefit.

DashPass provides $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on qualifying orders that meet the merchant’s minimum. Taxes, tips and other charges remain. Go credits cannot pay for every DoorDash order: exclusions include DoubleDash, prescription deliveries, gift cards and group orders. DoorDash purchases do not earn Lyft Go ride credits.

This is a separate offer from Amazon Prime’s new Uber Eats benefit. Owning one delivery membership does not establish eligibility for another.

Credits, cancellation and the Pink transition

Credits expire 60 days after issue. Pausing a membership does not stop that clock, and unused credits can become inaccessible when cancellation takes effect. Redeem credits you intend to use before ending the qualifying membership.

Paid plans and free trials renew automatically unless canceled. Lyft says a one-month trial is available, subject to eligibility; canceling during a trial immediately ends its benefits and locks its credits. A complimentary membership ends with its qualifying benefit and does not automatically become a separately paid plan.

Existing Lyft Pink members move to Go with DashPass at their next renewal, with advance notice and no change to their current price. Pink All-Access retains its benefits. Neither new Go tier includes free access to Lyft’s bikes or scooters, so riders using All-Access for those benefits should compare that plan separately. The migration does not itself cancel a separately paid DashPass subscription. If you already pay for both services, review the two renewal entries and the complimentary activation instructions before the next charge.
