President Trump says he has offered the job of White House press secretary to Dana White, the chief executive of the UFC, and White says he will meet Trump at the White House on Monday to talk about it.
"I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States," Trump wrote on Truth Social at 1:40 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, according to an archive of the post. He closed with: "Dana, please take the job!"
What Trump posted

Trump wrote that he had asked White to bring "assistants, even though some are not from our Country." He named six current and former UFC fighters: Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and "Kayla Harris," most likely a reference to fighter Kayla Harrison.
"We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left," he wrote, adding that White "will be a Press Secretary like none other." The post did not say whether the list of fighters was meant seriously.
By early Sunday the White House had not announced an appointment.
What happens Monday

White told reporters at a news conference after a boxing event in London on Saturday that he would meet Trump at the White House on Monday to discuss the offer, Al Jazeera reported. Neither has announced a decision.
White spoke for Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention, and on June 14 Trump attended UFC Freedom 250, a night of fights on the White House South Lawn, according to White House photos of the event.
